Abstract

The data collection system of the Matlab Family Planning-Health Services Project made it possible to examine prospectively the contraceptive practices of women whose intentions as to future use of contraception had been elicited at the beginning of the project. This article examines various sociodemographic characteristics of the initial family planning acceptors and compares them with those who intended and those who did not intend to contracept. It also examines the subsequent contraceptive behavior of the latter 2 groups and discusses possible reasons for the differential behavior. (authors)
