Abstract

Abstract : An extension of the Cauer formulation of the equivalent network theory problem is discussed which applies the transformations directly to the element parameter matrices, thereby placing the elements of the transformed network directly in evidence. The method of steepest descent is applied to choose the arbitrary parameters of the transformation in order to derive optimal networks, that is, networks with minimum number of elements and/or minimum element distribution.
