Abstract

The Wilson theory has been modified for the calculation of the continuous slowing down approximation (CSDA) range of positrons. An empirical correction factor P+ has been introduced which depends upon energy and atomic number Z. Calculation for CSDA range of 50 keV to 1000 MeV positrons has been made for elements Z=1 to 92, detector materials, minerals, Organic & Inorganic compounds. The values obtained by the present approach have been shown in good agreement with theoretical values of Berger & Seltzer.
