Abstract

The continuous quantum nondemolition measurement represents a continuous “collapse” of the initial state into one of the photon number states. The initial state may be the stationary state of the driven damped harmonic oscillator. A simultaneous drive, damping, and continuous quantum nondemolition measurement process behaves differently. Its stationary state shows a decrease in the mean photon number in the resonant case. For chosen values of parameters, a decrease of the mean number of detection events with detuning can be obtained by the Monte Carlo method.
