Continuous distribution of disclination loops

Abstract

Kroupa's theory of a continuous distribution of dislocation loops is extended to include disclination loops. The relation of the loop densities to the plastic strain and bend-twist are derived. This provides the connection with the theory of the continuous distribution of dislocations and disclinations. Mura has recently introduced the new concepts of “plastic distortion” and “plastic rotation”, and they are indentified in this paper as the dislocation-and disclination-loop density tensors. The significance of these quantities for a finite loop is discussed. Die Kroupasche Theorie einer kontinuierlichen Verteilung von Versetzungsschleifen wird auf Disklinationsschleifen erweitert. Die Beziehungen der Schleifendichten zur plastischen Verformung und Verdrillung werden abgeleitet. Dies liefert die Verbindung mit der Theorie der kontinuierlichen Verteilung von Versetzungen und Disklinationen. Kurzlich wurden von Mura neue Vorstellungen einer „plastischen Verzerrung” und „plastischen Drehung” eingefuhrt, diese werden in der Arbeit als Tensoren der Versetzungs- und Disklinationsschleifendichten identifiziert. Die Bedeutung dieser Grosen fur eine endliche Schleife wird diskutiert.
