Abstract

A new, continent vesicostomy is described in the animal model. A portion of bladder wall is fashioned into a tube continuous with the bladder lumen. The proximal portion of this tube is then intussuscepted into the bladder, and the distal end is brought to the skin surface. The intus; suscepted segment of the tube forms a competent valve. The bladder is then emptied by intermittent catheterizations of the tube via the abdominal wall stoma.
