Abstract

The measuring socio-economic development with the use of consumption indicators is an important and current focus of interest for researchers and scientists. It applies all countries, especially those, that have undergone transformation and integration changes, such as Poland. The recognition and assessment of changes in the different elements that fit into the broadly understood socio-economic development is used to verify the basic objectives of changes related to the improvement of the standard of living of people. The analysis of consumption indicators in Poland in the years 2004-2017 confirms the improvement of standard of living, and thus the progressing socio-economic development of the country. This is indicated, among other things, by positive changes in the structure of individual consumption in polish households could be observed as well. They were emphasized in the decrease of food expenditures in general expenditures, while the free choice expenditures share was increased.
