Abstract

The new Instructions [i] have made it possible to sharply increase the volume of construction of frameless residential buildings by developing areas with collapsible soil masses. This has entailed expanded construction of public buildings using the framed--paneled design scheme. The design and ~onstruction of such buildings on type II collapsible soils are carried out by applying a complex of measures which include preparation of the soil, protection against the action of water, and measures for preventing the effect of possible collapse of the base soils (use of expansion joints which divide the building, construction of a rigid foundation--basement part).
