Abstract
Role stress is defined as the conflict and tension due to the roles being played by a person at any given point of time. Enacted in the problems of organisations, such role stresses are called organisational role stress. The purpose of present study was to design a questionnaire that provides a quantitative measurement of organisational role stress. This scale includes dimensions namely inter role distance, role stagnation, role expectation conflict, role erosion, role overload, role isolation, personal inadequacy, self-role distance, role ambiguity, resource inadequacy, role under-load, technical explosion and career development with reliability 0.417 by test-retest method. The content validity of the scale was judged with the opinion of psychologists and subject experts.
