Abstract

As an Asian country adjacent to China, the path of Japan's electricity market reform is similar to China's. Since the Fukushima nuclear leak, Japan has promoted the fifth round of market reform, and initiated the construction of new electricity market mechanism, such as the base-load market, capacity market and non-fossil energy trading market, with the aim of improving power system’s stability and providing users with more reasonable electricity prices. Based on the current situation of China's electricity market reform, the design ideas of Japan's new electricity market mechanism and regulation system are analysized to provide important reference for the future direction of China's electricity market construction, which can help China's market reform out of its dilemma.
