Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of rehabilitation nursing model of on life quality of patients with motor neuron disease. Methods A total of 140 patients with motor neuron disease were randomly divided into control group ( n = 68 ) that received routine treatment and nursing, and experimental group ( n = 72 ) that received rehabilitation nursing model on the basis of routine treatment and nursing. ALS Functional Rating Scale (ALS FRS) and Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS)were used to assess the physical and mental states of patients. Results No significant differences was found in the scores of ALS FRS and SAS between control group and experimental group when they were admitted to the hospital (P 〉 0.05 ). When they were discharged, the score of ALS FRS in experimental group was significantly higher than that in control group ( 34.06 ±2.7!8 vs 31.74 ± 2.20,t = -6. 132;P 〈 0.05). And the SAS score in experimental group was significantly lower than that in control group (51.76 ±4.84 vs 56.79 ±6.05,t =5.447;P 〈0.05). Conclusions Rehabilitation nursing model provides an ease and safe exercise mode for the patients with motor neuron disease, and it can effectively improve their life quality. Key words: Rehabilitation nursing; Motor neuron disease; Self-care ability
