Abstract

After 1989, in Romania agriculture were more changes, which were generated by several factors which include: application of the law no. 18/1991- Land fund low; the excessive grind of agricultural land; the lack of material and financial mean for land cultivation, the old age of land owners and a majority share of residence in urban area, low training in the agricultural producers farmers, the reduced number of agricultural associations and private companies etc. Although the agricultural area marked a slight increase, vineyards were reduced by 2.3 times and the orchards by 1.7 times. In the arable land, the area cultivated with wheat was reduced 2.7 times, that of barley and spring barley 1.8 times, sugar beet by 5.4 times, 1.4 times for the potato, while at the sun flower has been an increase of 5.9 times, to vegetables 2.0 times and the corn 1.2 times. Negative is that each year in the period under review, remained uncultivated surfaces of arable land, which varied between 25.9 - 30.8 thousand hectares. Total yields obtained had a decrease tendency, except for sunflower and maize, where the increases were significant. Average yields per hectare, although presented an upward trend (except for barley and spring barley) as the absolute levels have been quite low.
