Abstract
The study of the conditions of transport of railway vehicles are of major importance, in the context of the constant increase of the performance (speed of movement) of locomotives. The railway and traffic conditions are important factors, which together with technical characteristics generate performance for railway vehicles. The research is a comparative analysis of the engine power transmission systems, existing in different types of locomotives. Also, motor axle drive solutions are presented and analyzed. The value of research has the effect in the developing of performance of transmission components of railway vehicles.
