Abstract
Pelvic organ prolapse is the descent of one or more pelvic organs, (including the bladder, uterus and rectum) from their normal anatomical position into the vaginal canal. Many patients with pelvic organ prolapse can be managed conservatively in the community with the use of supervised pelvic floor muscle training and/or vaginal pessaries. This article explains how to assess and conservatively treat pelvic organ prolapse, with particular focus on how to fit and manage vaginal pessaries.
