Abstract
The prevalence of syphilis is rising. Recognition and treatment is crucial in avoiding potentially life-threatening complications and disease transmission. It should, therefore, be considered when investigating common presenting complaints such as skin lesions, flu-like symptoms and memory issues. This article aims to aid GPs in appreciating the signs and symptoms of syphilis in its different stages and in initiating appropriate referrals.
