Abstract

Aim: In this article, the works carried out for the conservation and re-functioning of the registered Ballıpınar Church, which is owned by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and allocated to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, are discussed within the framework of universal conservation principles. Method: According to the information in the inscription of the building that it was built in 1895, the current situation of the building was documented, the similar period samples and traces from the building were evaluated and restitution project, structural assessment, material problems and conservation project were prepared according to the new function of the building. Results: The architectural features, cultural and economic value of the building which is in the center of the village make the building important and valuable. The structure is of great importance for both the village and Erdek. Ballıpınar Church, built in the late 19th century, The Greek Orthodox church reflects its architectural features and is an important cultural heritage that needs to be preserved and re-functionalized. Conclusion: The Ballıpınar Church, dated 1895, reflects the architectural features of the Greek Orthodox churches of the late Ottoman period in terms of plan and façade arrangements. It is an original architectural building, an important cultural asset that must be preserved as a cultural value. The original façade, plans and elements of the building have been preserved and restored to reflect the spirit of the period and transferred to future generations. It will be an important contribution in terms of architectural history and cultural values and will set an example for other buildings that are abandoned and in ruins.
