Abstract
This article discusses a study conducted in a tertiary hospital in Lucknow India with pregnant women presenting at the hospital with hemodynamic instability or loss of consciousness as eligible for inclusion in the study. The study highlights that the cost of travel and health services coupled with the difficulty in arranging motorized transport and poor road infrastructure were the mains reasons for delay in reaching health facilities and consequently the increased maternal mortality rate.
