Abstract
90 sive forms of periodontitis can gain access to pulpal tissues through accessory canals or the tooth apex and lead to pulpal infection. In those cases where there is any coalescence of endodontic and periodontal lesions, the group agreed that these situations should be termed, “Combined Periodontal-Endodontic Lesions.” This classification is not based on the initial etiology of the lesion. Either the periodontal or endodontic lesion may be the cause or the result of the other or both may develop independently. Therefore, the group recommended the following classification:
