Abstract
While Athens' arrangements for conscripting hoplites have received considerable scholarly attention, the details of the city's system for conscripting cavalrymen have been somewhat neglected. This paper seeks to fill this gap by reconstructing how Athens conscripted cavalrymen, and considering what led the city to modify its arrangements over time.
