Abstract

This paper experimentally examines the dependency of output voltage on the connection of a cascaded power packet dispatching network. The power packet dispatching network has been studied for managing energy in the direct current (DC) power systems such as DC microgrids. A unit power packet consists of DC power and the information related to the attached power. Power packet routers transmit power packets in the time-division multiplexing method. The power packet dispatching network is recognized as a similar circuit configuration to the buck converter. The output voltage of the buck converter is controlled by the pulse width or density modulation. In addition to them, the connection in the network affects the output of the power packet dispatching network. This paper examines the dependency of the output voltage on the connection of the cascaded network. The experimental results show the dependency on the connection of the output and similarity to the buck converter operating in discontinuous conduction mode. The results will lead to the power flow control in the network.
