Abstract

This article provides insight into religious congregational leaders' perceptions of innovation. The sample consisted of 13 religious congregational leaders representing 10 congregations based in a large metropolitan city in a southeastern U.S. state. This descriptive qualitative study sought to answer the following questions: 1) How do congregational leaders define organizational innovation? 2) What types of innovation were implemented in their religious congregations? 3) What are the supporting factors of innovation in religious congregations? 4) What are the factors that inhibit innovation in religious congregations?
