Abstract

Quasi-elastic scatter of laser light has been used to study the conformational changes in poly-4-vinylpyridine during its interaction with bivalent copper ions. It is shown that for low contents of Cu 2+ ions in polymer-metal complexes the linear chain of poly-4-vinylpyridine is compactized through intracoil interactions with metal ions. Increase in the concentration of Cu 2+ in the hardened polymer coil leads to the appearance in it of Cu 2+ ions coordination-unsaturated by polymer units and which complete their coordination by pyridine ligands through the intercoil bonds.
