Abstract
In this paper, conformance testing of protocols specified as sets of labeled transition systems (LTSs) is considered. LTSs serve as the semantic model for a number of languages such as CCS, CSP and LOTOS. A straightforward approach to conformance testing of such a protocol is to generate the LTS corresponding to the global behaviour of the set of component LTSs and to apply known test generation procedures to the global LTS. In general, construction of the global behaviour is difficult due to the state explosion problem. Also, testing is complicated due to internal (nonobservable) events and nondeterminism. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to alleviate state explosion in the construction of the global LTS. We also propose how the reduced LTS is used in conformance testing.
