Abstract

Expatriate leaders contribute to the competitive advantage in their respective organizations. A psychometric analysis of cross-cultural leadership adjustment contributing to high-performance work culture with the mediation of cultural intelligence has not been explored in Malaysia. The primary goal of the current study was to evaluate and verify the psychometric properties of the expatriate leadership adjustment scale (ELA). Nine experts from the management field verified the items for further analysis. Overall, 459 expatriate leaders participated to validate and model the assessment of items by CFA technique. CFA results generated detailed information about the item and instrument. EFA indicated items that had factor loadings lower than 0.5. The modified model had a Comparative Fit Index (CFI) and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) of 0.900 and 0.067, respectively. CFA resulted in a good fit for the Expatriate Leadership Adjustment Scale (ELA) relevant to cross-cultural leadership in the Malaysian context.
