Abstract

An important contribution to the Fermi contact field at nonmagnetic nuclei in magnetic metals arises from the polarization of the conduction electrons. It is shown that in contrast to what has been generally assumed the density and polarization of conduction electrons at the nuclear site of the impurity are strongly dependent on the size of the impurity in the lattice.
