Abstract

The effect has been studied of non-ionogenic hydrophilic triazole units on the condition for the formation, composition and properties of polycomplexes formed by polyacrylic acid and the copolymers 1-vinyl-1,2,4-triazole with 1-vinyl-1,2,4-triazolium metasulphate of varied composition (QPVT). In acid media the salt bonds formed between the quaternized QPVT units and the carboxyl groups of polyacrylic acid increase the stability of the cooperative system of interpolymer hydrogen bonds formed between the non-quarternized QPVT units and the protonated carboxyl groups of polyacrylic acid. At pH⩾7.0 the structure and properties of the polycomplexes stabilized in these conditions only by ionic interactions are determined by the content of the quaternized units and the ionic strength of the solution.
