Abstract

The paper describes a new method for condition monitoring of self-powered neutron detectors (SPND) used to monitor neutron flux in the reactor core. The method measures currents in the SPND measuring circuit under static and dynamic conditions. A new diagnostic indicator of SPND condition is introduced allowing for significant enlargement of the detector operating range and change in the method that is used to monitor the value of SPND emitter burnout. The introduction of the additional diagnostic indicator, namely the measuring circuit capacitance, can be used for assessing the neutron flux in the reactor core under transient conditions.
