Abstract
The aim of this survey was to evaluate the oral and systemic conditions of 512 elderly from the Stomatology Clinic (FO/Uerj) through meticulous anamnesis and clinical examination. Bone resorption (29,0%) constituted the prevalent development alteration, followed by tongue varicosities (27,0%). In relation to pathologic disturbances, the coated tongue (27,3%) featured the most frequent lesion in both genders, followed by fibrous hyperplasia (20,1%). Arterial hypertension (44,1%) corresponded to the more frequent systemic condition. Due to the results obtained, it became clear the need of oral health orientative and preventive programs directed to the geriatric population
