Abstract

We study the onset of global phase coherence in a two-dimensional array of junctions in the mean-field approximation which includes, besides the charging energy, the contribution due to the finite compressibility of the Fermi superfluid. In ultrathin films, the effect of the geometric junction capacitance is found obliterated by the compressibility energy, yielding a nearly universal onset sheet resistance.
