Abstract

At-home testing of reproductive and thyroid hormones are commercially available to assess reproductive health, however, there is limited evidence of the reliability and validity of the capillary blood sampling method utilised in these tests. Previous literature reports blood volume and collection tube type affects the measurement of hormones in venipuncture samples. We sought to assess the intra and inter sample variability in venipuncture and capillary blood and the effect of blood collection tube type on reproductive and thyroid hormone measurement.
