Abstract

Introduction. The main factors of economic development of any country are the state and dynamics of its infrastructure, which in turn requires significant investment. In order to receive money for development, it is necessary to activate investment processes in Ukraine, as a result, this will allow satisfying the needs of the economy in free investment. This situation forces us to look for new forms of economic relations that would allow them to attract. One of the forms of such relations at Ukrzaliznytsia can be a concession of stations. The purpose of the paper is to increase the competitiveness of the passenger railway complex, it is necessary to study and analyze the development of railway concessions in EU countries and determine the specifics of attracting private investment in the development of railway transport infrastructure through the implementation of concessions of railway stations in Ukraine. Results. The concession of the stations will be useful not only for Ukrzaliznytsia, but also for Ukrainian business, which has a new source for profitable financing and profit. And local governments are interested in creating a modern entertainment and recreation area that would suit all categories of citizens. Conclusions. Under such conditions, a concession can be the optimal form of raising capital for both Ukrzaliznytsia JSC and private investors. Among its main advantages for the railway are the following: – effective management of assets transferred under the concession to private investors and their modernization; – receiving additional income in the form of concession payments; – improving the quality of passenger service; – minimization of costs for maintenance of non-core assets. In addition, the concession of railway stations is important step towards the implementation of European standards, and an opportunity to increase the competitiveness of the passenger complex of railway transport.
