Abstract

This article is devoted to the problem of developing a glaciological geographic information system. The process of transition from systems atlas mapping to geoinformational methods for the modeling of geographical features and phenomena is examined. It is proposed that the World Atlas of Snow and Ice Resources be used as a model of the structure of a database for a glaciological geographic information system.
