Abstract

Summary. This study was aimed at investigation of changes in total concentration of nitric oxide metabolites (NOM) in the exhaled breath condensate of children with bronchial obstruction under the treatment with Berodual and ambroxol and not using corticosteroids. NOM total concentration in BAC of 10 patients was measured with Griss-Ilosvay's photometric method modified by Klimanov and Soodaeva. Additionally, severity of bronchial obstruction was evaluated using the ACQ test (daily and weekly) and FEV1 measurements (in percentage of predictive values). Combined therapy with Berodual and ambroxol has led not only to regression of clinical signs and symptoms and to increase in FEV1 but also in a significant decrease in NOM total concentration in BAC. This could reflect a reduction in the airways inflammation and possible influence of this combined therapy on pathogenesis of the disease.
