Abstract

The recently proposed scaling theory of a fused hard-sphere mixture is extended to a fluid mixture of monomers and dimers. The contribution from the attractive force is introduced within the Barker–Henderson perturbation theory via the double Yukawa potential with the parameters fitted to the Lennard-Jones potential. The results suggest that the non-spherical shape of the dimer bond and the non-additivity of the potential play a dominant role to induce phase separation or compound formation in the mixture.
