Abstract
We consider appropriate discrete versions of the Schrödinger and Zakharov-Shabat operators, and show by means of carefully chosen examples that - contrary to the linear situation - it is possible to simultaneously concentrate a potential and its scattering transform. In the linearized version of this problem this is precluded by the Heisenberg uncertainty principle.
