Abstract
All countries report the need for integrating computer technology into the educational systems. The current situation indicates that this has been limited to a few privileged schools in South Asian countries. This distribution is not equitable and it contributes to further social, economic and educational polarization of these countries. The need for national informatics policies linked to the overall development policies of the countries is critical, if they are to achieve some degree of parity with industrial nation utilization of informatics.
