Abstract

Many college students as well as youngsters have been addicted to computer-based games, which have negative and positive effects on them. Therefore, how to convert their negative effects into positive impacts has attracted a number of researchers' attention. Designing proper computer-based educational games is a good solution. By investigating college English teaching and college students' playing computer-based games in China, this paper suggests that it is an advisable attempt for college English teachers in China to design computer-based educational games and apply it into college English teaching, and discusses principles and approaches of designing computer-based educational games suitable for college English teaching in China.
