Abstract

A computer program was developed to simulate the Bosanquet and Pearson dispersion model. It is shown that only a short downwind distance is necessary to disperse a toxic gas discharged at a constant rate into the atmosphere when it is unstable. The distance increases as atmospheric stability increases. A comparison is made between this model and the Gaussian model. These models can be employed in conducting preliminary studies regarding chemical plant siting.
