Abstract
Molecular dynamics computer simulation was used to show soliton excitation in two-dimensional mass-spring square-lattice model crystals. Central forces were considered between nearest neighbor atoms, and a lattice anharmonic potential up to the fourth order was taken into account. An input pulse displacement was applied to atomic rows in the crystal and the displacements of all atoms were computed. When the applied input was sufficiently large, the excitation produced exibited “multiple solitons”.
