Abstract

The present article shows how computer assisted-drafting and computer assisted engineering programs can be used effectively in otrder to generate TV test signals to evaluate and design television systems and facilities. An on the shelf computer design package , together with a properly adapted drafting program are extensively used in this work to simulate a combination of TV test signal generator, circuit modeling tool, waveform monitor and measurement set. The computer model described here enables the engineer to analyze the effects of a specific TV system on video test signals, without the expense of using an actual test generator. Examples of linear and non linear distortions, produced by specific circuit systems on generated TV test signals are given and analyzed in the time and frequency domain , respectively. Finally, a brief discussion about the package advantages offered by the application of the selected computer simulation package in the design and testing of TV circuit systems is presented.
