Abstract
Low supersaturation nucleation is modeled by numerical calculation of the thermal field in crystal growth by “contactless” physical vapor transport technique. Dependence of the thermal field/shape of the source on the thermal profile of the furnace and the system geometry is investigated. Optimization of the nucleation process by using a proper temperature field is discussed. Results of the modeling are compared with experimental results obtained using cadmium telluride as the source material.
