Abstract
Abstract A mathematical expression for the transmission of a thin dielectric layer on a transmitting substrate is found. The finite dimensions of the substrate and its absorption are taken into account. The cases of inclined incidence of non-polarised, s- and p-polarised radiation to the layer are investigated. A way of determining the optical constants n(λ) and k(λ) of the layer from the envelopes of the transmission spectrum is offered. Computation of n(λ) and k(λ) of a model optical system at different angles of radiation incidence is performed as well as analysis of the results obtained.
