Abstract

A recently proposed model for Compton scattering and deep inelastic electroproduction is extended to describe vector-meson photoproduction. Vector-meson dominance is formulated covariantly in terms of invariant amplitudes, and the assumption of a smooth zero-mass limit leads to definite relations between the amplitudes for the different processes. The breaking of simple vector dominance observed in these reactions is accounted for by an additional mass dependence. A good fit to the vector photoproduction data is obtained.
