Abstract
In this paper we report the experimental Compton profile of polycrystalline tungsten. The measurements have been made by scattering 59.54-keV \ensuremath{\gamma} rays and are compared with the band-structure calculation of Papanicolaou et al. These results have also been compared with our calculation based on the renormalized-free-atom model with different 5d-6s configurations. Best agreement with experiment is found for the 5${d}^{5.4}$6${s}^{0.6}$ electron configuration.
