Abstract

Aiming at the problem of the dead-band setting for battery energy storage system (BESS) in power grid primary frequency regulation, a method for dead band comprehensive setting and optimization is proposed in this paper. This method combines a segmentation function with an adaptive factor that considers the BESS's charge state. It filters and processes the grid frequency deviation signal and effectively feeds them back to the BESS. Based on the single factor analysis method, the parameters of the proposed method in segmentation function factor and SOC adaptive factor are optimized and analyzed, respectively. Then, a single-area grid model is used. Simulating and Comparing three traditional dead-band setting methods with the proposed method for BESS in the primary frequency regulation, the result shows that the proposed method improves the sensitivity of the BESS to grid frequency deviation, maintains the charge state of BESS, and verifies the effectiveness and feasibility.
