Abstract

Objective To compare the effects of double action femoral head replacement and hip arthroplasty on femoral neck fractures. Methods Ninety-six patients with femoral neck fractures were randomly divided into two groups, the control group(n =48) and the observation group(n =48).The patients in the control group were operated through hip arthroplasty, while the patients in observation group were operated through double action femoral head replacement.Surgical cases,Harris score, complications and quality of life in the two groups were compared. Results In observation group, operation time and blood loss were significantly less than those in the control group (P < 0.05),hospitalization time had no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05).Three months after operation, the Harris scores of the two groups had no significant difference (P >0.05),but after 1 year's follow-up,Harris score of observation group was significantly higher (P <0.05).Early complications in the two groups had no significant difference (P > 0.05),the longterm complications and reoperation in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05).After 1 year' s follow-up,quality of life in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group. Conclusions The long-term effect of dual action femoral head replacement on femoral neck fracture is significantly better than that of hip arthroplasty.
