Abstract

NIST's Herbert S Bennett et al drawn from RFMD, BAE Systems and Freescale, aimed with a detailed presentation to select highlights on compound semiconductors from the perspective of the 2003 International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors (ITRS) representing an industrial consensus with inputs from the research community. Observers will need patience to await the nanotechnology roadmap, whose appearance could be hijacked in part by the applications sector, rather than by material fabricators, though NIST and DARPA will continue as the key heavyweight players.
