Abstract

Event Abstract Back to Event Composition, distribution and communities structure of the intertidal meiofauna of the Ría de Ferrol (Galicia, NW Iberian Peninsula). Celia Besteiro1* and Wilma Eugênio2 1 Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Zooloxía e Antropoloxía Física, Spain 2 Universidade Federal de Maranhão (UFMA), Biología, Brazil In the present poster we describe the meiofaunic spatial structure in terms of diversity and abundance of major taxa, as well as its relationship with the environmental characteristics in the Ria of Ferrol. For this aim, environmental characteristics and distribution patterns of intertidal meiobenthic communities at the Ria of Ferrol were studied using multivariate methods. An abundant and rich meiofauna community was reported at Ria of Ferrol. We studied a total of 126.142 individuals, belonging to 26 higher taxa. The most common taxa were nematodes, harpacticoid copepods, turbellarians and ostracodes. Four clear different meiobenthic communities were defined, based on the grain size of the Ria of Ferrol.
