Abstract

Abstract—Pyrene and 1‐methylpyrene have been shown by infrared spectrometry to form 1:I molecular complexes with alcohols at a concentration of 0.02 M in CCl4 solutions. The association constants are of the order of 1 M‐1. The fluorescence decay profiles of 10μM pyrcnc in dilutc butanol‐heptane solutions have been found to be the sum of two exponential components in agreement with ground state complex formation
