Abstract
The article focuses on how property-based and knowledge-based resources influence sustainable competitive advantage. It examines seven major Hollywood film studios between 1936 and 1965 to determine the relationship resources held with studio performance. It mentions that property-based resources are protected by property rights and include patents, copyrighted brands, locations, and exclusive contracts. It states that knowledge-based resources include various skills that help a firm develop and market competitive products. The article suggests that in a stable market environment that property resources are of greater advantage, while knowledge resources are more useful in times of change and uncertainty.
